FINALLY A LETTER FROM THE MISSIONARIES TO POST

So, you wanted me to write about our mission, so far. I am not a good writer, but here goes! As we have told some of the you the MTC was the most awesome experience we have had in our lives. So many wonderful people there and all with the Lords work first and foremost in their minds! We were only there for 4 1/2 days, but in that time we learned a lot. We were taught by return missionaries probably only back from there missions 1 to 3 years. They were so great.

One,s last name was Harmer and, of course, it reminded me of the story in the Friend years ago about the little boy that thought his family was always praying for protection from someone named Harmer (protect us from harm or accident). It was fun to tease him that I finally met the person we always wanted protection from. lol. He was a really good teacher.

Your dad, Elder Leavitt was assigned to be the District Leader over us and three other couplels. They were to contact him , if there was an emergency at anytime during our stay. Elder Leavitt had to find the prayers for the meeting that we had. And we had a lot of different meetings.

One of our of meetings that we had with the full group each day which included talks, singing and question time was a real suuprise for me. I was setting there listening to the speaker, when I happened to look over and notice the person that was playing the piano for this meeting. Low and behold ,I was looking at none other that Sister Shirley Whittaker (Brad Whittaker). She saw me as well and when she was finished she came and sat behind and we whispered back and forth a bit. It seems she comes to the MTC one day each week to play the piano for this particular meeting time. What a thrill to see her. She says to tell everyone hello, they are doing fine.

We have had a great time here in Pryor. There are 13 towns in this ward boundry. We have been assigned to visit with and try to activate the less actives. We have been putting on a lot of miles finding and looking for the people's homes. They mostly live out on ranches or just on rural routes more that anything. We are never really lost, but a lot the time we cannot find our persons homes. The grids were changed a year or so ago and Miss Garmine doesn't seem to know her way on some of them either.

Sometimes she takes us to a place where there is NO house and says, You're here!!!! Hmmmm. The Ward members that are active have been helpful to us as well. We are getting to know them pretty well now, but it was pretty hard to keep the names straight at first. I am sure we will be able to get some of the less active back to church. We just need to find them and help them know how important they are to the Lord.

We go to a town called Owasso each week for district meeting. We stop in Claremore and pick up the two elders there, so they don't use so many miles. It is pretty fun, we are the only old foggys with 8 other elders. They are all great. One of them is our district leader, his name is Elder Bell. He is kinda from Hurricane. His parents have moved to Hurricane since he has been out on his mission, so that is where he will be going back to. Some of you may know his parents. He is very nice and cute too. You Hurricane cousins!!!. Watch for him. He should be home in a few months. There is another that is from St.George, Elder Perkes, but he was transfered to another area on the last transfer. Hopefully we will see him again. They do transfers each six weeks.

Keep us in your prayers, please. We love doing the Lords work!

Love and Hugs to our Grandchildren, and spouses, our children and spouses and the whole Leavitt clan.

Elder and Sister Leavitt
